Cambodia’s Culinary Diplomacy: “The Taste of Angkor II” Cookbook Launch

On the occasion of presiding over the Opening Session of the Ministry’s 2024 Annual Review Conference and Work Direction 2025 held on the morning of 3 March 2025, His Excellency Deputy Prime Minister PRAK Sokhonn, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, officially announced the launch of the cookbook entitled “The Taste of Angkor II.” This revealing was a significant moment at the event, showing how important Cambodian culinary traditions and cultural heritage are.

In the collaborative effort to create “The Taste of Angkor II.” cookbook, Seng Sothea, renowned for his culinary expertise at Mahob Group establishments such as Mahob Cuisine, BENG MEALEA Restaurant & Lodge, and Lum Orng Restaurant – Farm to Table Cuisine, joined forces with Sao Sopheak from Villa 5 Restaurant and Kimsan Twin from Embassy Restaurant. Their commitment and effort resulted in the publication of this cookbook, a genuine project aimed at showcasing the flavours of Khmer food to a global audience.

The launch of “The Taste of Angkor II” represents Cambodia’s ongoing efforts to:

  1. Preserve and promote traditional Khmer recipes
  2. Enhance cultural understanding through food
  3. Boost culinary tourism in Cambodia
  4. Strengthen economic and cultural ties with other nations
